The Consumer Product Safety Commission just announced an active recall on approximately 51,750 electric mini vegetable choppers. This is due to a malfunction that poses a laceration risk.

The affected Mainstays Electric Mini Choppers have a model number MS14100094536S1 printed on the bottom of the device and were sold exclusively at Walmart stores nationwide and online. These choppers were sold from August 2023 through October 2023 for between $10 and $15.

According to the CPSC report, the veggie chopper’s blade can operate “unexpectedly” while assembling the appliance outside of the enclosed container, which can cause injury. The recall was announced after Walmart received five consumer complaints of lacerations due to this malfunction, two of which were serious enough to warrant medical attention, including the need for stitches.

If you have the defective product on hand, return it to your nearest Walmart location for a full refund. For more information on this recall, contact Walmart at 800-925-6278 from 7 a.m. through 9 p.m. CT any day, or visit their designated recall web page.
