Wenders LLC just announced a recall of some cashews sold at Trader Joe’s, according to the Food & Drug Administration (FDA). This recall is due to possible Salmonella contamination.

This recall affects Trader Joe’s 50% Less Salt Roasted & Salted Whole Cashews, originating in India and Vietnam. Impacted packages were sold at stores located in Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and Washington.

Per Trader Joe’s announcement, the recalled bags of cashews have SKU# 37884 in addition to the following Lot numbers and “Best Before” dates:

  • Lot No: T12139 - Best Before Feb 21 2025
  • Lot No: T12140 - Best Before Mar 01 2025
  • Lot No: T12141 - Best Before Mar 08 2025
  • Lot No: T12142 - Best Before Mar 10 2025

The FDA discovered the presence of Salmonella through routine import sampling. They found that at least one of the recalled lots was positive for the bacteria. No illnesses have been announced in connection to this issue, but purchasers of the recalled cashews should stop consuming the product and return it to the closest store location for a refund.

Salmonella is a contagious foodborne infection. Common symptoms include fever, stomach cramps and diarrhea, and the symptoms can last up to 7 days. Salmonella is not typically life threatening, but severe cases may lead to hospitalization. If you are experiencing the above effects after consuming this impacted product, contact your health care provider as soon as possible.
