Remember when the Joe & the Juice Tunacado sandwich went totally viral? We even made a copycat version of the delicious lunch to replicate the flavors at home. Now, the chain just came out with a new creation on February 7: a breakfast version of their avocado-based sandwich.

The Eggcado Breakfast Sandwich was just added to the menu. This is definitely the item we’re most excited about, but we’re also drooling over the Eggcado Breakfast Bowl and the Slab Breakfast Sandwich, which are the other two new additions.

Here’s what to know about these breakfast items and if they’re healthy choices to start your day.

The Eggcado Breakfast Sandwich uses Joe & the Juice breakfast bread (it has an English muffin consistency) and includes egg salad, avocado, tomato, spinach and Sriracha in each bite. Here’s the nutrition information for their new sandwich:

  • 400 calories
  • 16 grams total fat
  • 4 grams saturated fat
  • 45 grams carbohydrates
  • 5 grams total sugar
  • 4 milligrams sodium
  • 6 grams fiber
  • 15 grams protein

The Eggcado Sandwich should be satisfying since it’s packed with protein and fiber to keep you satiated throughout the morning. It also contains healthy fats, thanks to the avocado.

Carbohydrates are important for a healthy eating pattern, but if you’re more mindful of your carb intake, the Eggcado Breakfast Bowl omits the breakfast bread but includes all of the same flavors. Here’s the breakdown for the bowl:

  • 159 calories
  • 13 grams total fat
  • 3 grams saturated fat
  • 4 grams carbohydrates
  • 3 grams total sugar
  • 6 grams sodium
  • 1 gram fiber
  • 6 grams protein

While lighter in calories and carbs, the Eggcado Breakfast Bowl is less filling than the sandwich, so consider adding your own side of fruit, nuts or granola to keep fuller for longer

The Slab Breakfast Sandwich is just their breakfast bread with cream cheese—but it still sounds delicious. We suggest adding on fresh ingredients like avocado, spinach or tomato for a more fulfilling bite.

The Bottom Line

Overall, the new breakfast options at Joe & the Juice are fairly healthy, and we’re excited to try them. It’s also easy to make versions of these dishes at home if you don’t have a Joe & the Juice location nearby—our own Avocado Egg Salad Sandwiches and Egg Salad English-Muffin Sandwich are perfect examples.
