There’s an active recall on approximately 215,140 electric smokers sold in the U.S. and Canada, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission. This is due to an electric shock hazard.
The Char-Broil brand digital electric smokers are designed for outdoor use to cook without charcoal. The full list of models impacted are listed on the recall notice. The affected products were sold at Lowe’s, Ollie’s, Bargain Outlet, Target and other retailers nationwide and sold online through Amazon, HSN and the brand’s website to American and Canadian buyers. The affected smokers were sold from April 2015 through January 2024, with prices ranging from $300 to $600.
The brand announced this recall after receiving 79 complaints from consumers who experienced a “minor electric shock” when touching the smoker while in use. There was one report of injury resulting in blistering of the skin.
If you own one of these recalled electric smokers, stop using it immediately and visit the brand’s recall website to request a free repair kit for the faulty smoker.
