This is due to the cheeses being connected to a multistate E. coli outbreak. As of February 16, there have been 10 confirmed cases of E. coli infection that have impacted four states: California, Colorado, Texas and Utah. Of those cases, six have confirmed consuming Raw Farms Cheddar cheese, resulting in this recall. The following products sold nationwide are being recalled: Raw Cheddar Cheese - Pound Block, barcode 835204000156 with expiration date listed as November 13, 2023, or olderRaw Cheddar Cheese - Half Pound Block, barcode 835204001177 with expiration date listed as November 13, 2023, or olderRaw Cheddar Cheese - Half Pound Shred, barcode 835204001184 with expiration date listed as January 16, 2024, or older While the recalled products are expired, you should still check your refrigerator and freezer for these cheeses. If you have one that matches the recall information, dispose of it immediately or return to your place of purchase for a refund. Common symptoms of E. coli infection include stomach cramps, diarrhea, vomiting and low-grade fever. Usually E. coli presents a mild infection, but for young children and those with compromised immune systems, it can be especially dangerous. If you are experiencing the above symptoms after consuming Cheddar cheese, contact your health care provider as soon as possible. Be sure to follow the USDA’s recommended cleaning procedures if you believe your home could be contaminated—E. coli bacteria can easily spread to other food, surfaces and people.
