There’s an active recall on approximately 287,300 air fryers sold in the U.S. and Canada, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). This is due to a fire, burn and laceration risk.

The Insignia branded Air Fryers and Air Fryer Ovens with the following model numbers are impacted by this recall: NS-AF34D2, NS-AF5DSS2, NS-AF5MSS2, NS-AF8DBD2, NS-AF10DBK2 and NS-AF10DSS2. Sizes affected range from 3.4-quart to 10-quart cooking capacities, and the appliances were primarily sold at Best Buy in-stores and online from November 2021 through November 2023.

“The air fryers can overheat, causing the handles to melt or break, posing fire and burn hazards,” the CPSC states in the recall announcement. “Additionally, the air fryer ovens can overheat and the glass on the door can shatter, posing fire, burn and laceration hazards.”

While there are no injuries connected to this recall, there are 24 reports of the affected air fryers overheating, causing the appliance to melt or shatter glass. Of these, 6 have reported their air fryer catching on fire.

Check your air fryer for the above information, and if it matches, contact Best Buy at 800-566-7498 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT Monday through Friday or register online at recallrtr.com/airfryer to receive a refund.
